First
and foremost, remember the words one wise bride shared with a friend, " A wedding is a big party to celebrate your love
and commitment to your beloved." Focus on that important essence of your wedding, that at the end of the day, you and
your honey will be wed. That is why you are getting married, and if you repeat that as a mantra in times of wedding stress,
you should feel a greater sense of calm. If you add a glass of wine while repeating the mantra, it is thought to multiply
the stress relieving properties many-fold. And jokes that get you laughing are another great stress buster, especially if
they are about drinking wine!
Secondly, remember that there are plenty of folks around who would
be glad to take some of that wedding stress right off your shoulders. Feeling overwhelmed about choosing a florist? Ask your
mom to be the head of the florist finding committee, and trust that she will make a good choice. Are you overwhelmed with
wedding stress about choosing the best band? Ask your future brother-in-law to head the search, and ask him to select three
contenders for you and your honey to choose between. Ah, your wedding stress level is lowering as you read these very words.
A common concern of wedding stress is that something will go wrong on the actual day of your wedding. Some brides
to be experience strange dreams and nightmares in the weeks or even months leading up to their wedding. These dreams are likely
your subconscious playing out worst-case scenarios, or your brains way of expressing your concerns about your special day.
Consider keeping a dream journal, and jotting down these nightmares as soon as you wake up. Then read over your writing, and
discuss what is going on with a good friend. You might notice common themes, and can then try and address these things that
are causing your wedding stress.
Lastly, and most importantly, take some time each day to do something
you enjoy that is in no way connected to your wedding. Take a relaxing bath, read a funny book, take a run along your favorite
path or go for a drive down a pretty road to nowhere, and feel that wedding stress dissolve. Many brides find that yoga helps
to release wedding stress. And don't forget- your wedding is a celebration of your love, and no matter what small (Or
even big!) details go wrong, at the end of the day, you will be married, and that is what really counts in the end!
